But, we can see the light; just two more weeks until exams, and then it's just a quick few weeks until summer break, and freedom and friendships, and, well, having the life we all had when we were avoiding the assignments we are recklessly trying to finish now...

I swear, every year I make the same resolution revolving around getting assignments done early, and every year it seems that I still end up with this rush & the stress that puts on other areas of life, like making me cranky, even towards good friends.

So, this is an apology to those I could be a little nicer to. As well as a thank you to the many people who have e-mailed me to say they tried to comment on this blog but were unable to, due to not being a blogger member. I just figured out how to change that, as I never knew non-members could not comment before. So comment away!

On another note, I've recently relized that writing this blog has become more of a chore than I would have liked. I mean, I love to write, but I found that I sat myself down & made myself write monthly blogs, just so I would stay in the contest. It became an obligation to write, so I doubt I would do this again, although I have enjoyed it as well.

But, I have to get to work on a few last projects. After this coming INSANE week, I'm pretty much in the clear... kind of, anyways. Have a great Saturday everyone; I know I will :)

Happy March Break Anyone?

I was on the bus today, heading home from class, when I was asked if I was excited about March Break starting today. Of course, I hadn't even really thought of that since we don't have March Break at all. I think we should. I have about eight different assignments and tests in the next two weeks; I'm thinking this is when we really need our break.

I'm not a huge fan of the end of year crunch. I mean, I highly doubt anyone is. But, not only do I have what seems like a million things due before the end of the month, but then I have 6 - yes, 6 - exams to look forward too. Oooh, I'm so excited.

As much as I'll miss school by the time summer starts again, I currently just can't wait for it all to be over with.

Anyways, it is late, and I have to work early in the morning. So good night, and good studying, and let's just all hope spring comes soon to cheer us all up. :)

At least it is still light out when I get out of school now :)

Wow.. I don't know where January has gone; we're just about into the second semester rush, woot! Tests are starting, and essays are due. I don't think I have a second for anything any more. I guess I deserve it though. I was bored over Christmas because I had nothing meaningful to do. And, well, I'm regreting that now. Hah. Oh well. I have to go study for a test this week. I'll post a real post soon. :) Byyye

... it's been a while.

The other day, my friend Sam and I took a drive out of town. Sam and I never see each other any more, but we'd been best friends since the sixth grade, and I used to tell him everything. We used to meet at his house before school to have tea, and sneak cookies, before heading off. But, that's all in the past, and we have different friends now, not to say we don't still enjoy each others' company.

Anyways, we were out driving, and talking, and we got onto the topic of originality. And, I looked at him and said, "originality is dead." I mean, honestly, can you tell me that the thought you have now has NEVER been thought before, by anyone, anywhere? I don't think you can. My grandma is convinced she was the first person to create toaster waffles, but she's definitely not the one who gets all the money that comes in from Egos.

But, it got me thinking; I really don't know why exactly I started this. What do I have to say that is new and exciting? My thoughts have been thought before. They all have wings, I swear it. I'm a student; I'm a friend; I'm a daughter; I'm a grand-daughter. And, yeah, I have my own kind of style, my own personality, but it's not original. My clothes are bought in North Bay - how much selection do we really have? Three other girls wore the same dress as me to prom. Sure, I have my own personality, but is it not really just a general mix up of my parents' personalities, and my experiences... it's just another innovation.

What is creativity, other than innovations? I think being innovative should be our goals; not originality.

I'm Glad I am a Townie...

It didn't take long into my first year to realize the definite division within Nipissing. On the one hand, there are the Res groups... the people who meet first year, in the first few days, and share their homes with one another, and on the other hand, there are the townies, who have pre-formed groups, and know North Bay better than the backs of their own hands. I was obviously a townie, and I knew quite a few people going to Nipissing and Canadore, and for all school purposes, they really are the same school...

Anyways, about Christmas time last year, I got to wishing that I had taken the road so many other people did, and left North Bay to go to a bigger school. It seemed that people in Res were having way more fun, and meeting way more people, all united by the fact that they were away from home for the first time, and no longer had the curfews and rules that I still did. This isn't to say I didn't instantly love attending Nipissing; it's more that I had many of the same friends from high school, and the new friends I made were hard to get together with, because many were afraid to take bus ventures all the way to the Ferris area, and I spent far more time than just classes at Nipissing because of that. I thought if I had left too, I'd be just like them... but, really, how can one ever be just like another? Even twins are usually far different than each other. I just wanted to meet more people.

Since then, I have. I've met so many great people. Nipissing is full of them. But being from North Bay gives me way more advantages than I ever could have guessed then. I mean, I know this town; I can work all year 'round at the same job, and I don't have to pay to go visit my family. I had dinner at my grandma's house tonight, and all I had to do was walk, and only for 10 minutes. Can you really beat that? No long distance fees, no travelling... And, I mean, why would you want to leave this town anyways - I love it here!

I know a lot of people who left home, and we don't talk much any more. I never had to leave my friends behind, and yet I still made more. I don't know - I love that I stayed in town, and to say the least, I think I'm glad that I'm a townie...

I wish I'd stayed in bed...

Random rant of the day: as nice as it is that a North Bay bus pass is included with Nipissing fees... the buses are insanely annoying sometimes! I got on the bus on Lakeshore, sat down, and the bus stalled. A minute later we were told the bus was broken, and we all had to get off the bus and wait for a replacement bus to pick us up, and bring us to the terminal... meaning I got to class about twenty seconds before class started, and a little bit mad, hah...

On the plus side, it is totally a beautiful day here, again, and I am enjoying the nice, fairly non-seasonal weather. I mean, we had a beautiful Hallowe'en... we used to buy extra big costumes for Hallowe'en so that we could wear snowsuits underneath. As funny as it looked to be double my weight in a Queen Amadelia costume, I was warm against the blizzard and snowbanks that attacked us. Yes; that's right; I have trick-or-treated in a snow storm, more than once.

Speaking of which, we barely had any kids this year, and most of those kids were closer to my age than kids. There's thought that it's because of the cougar sightings. That happened last year, or maybe the year before, as well. Turned out a large cat had escaped from a zoo and ended up in town. I wonder what it is this time. Maybe someone just really likes to feed little Fluffy.

Anyways, I should be listening more to this lecture, so I should go. Have a nice day everyone :)

Hmm. I'm in a random hopeless romantic mood tonight. It's not really something I can explain, other than the whole I'm a girl thing.

We're sitting around, watching the Simpsons; I'm half mad that there wasn't a new episode of How I Met Your Mother on tonight. If you haven't watched that show, you totally should start. Go right from season one, and watch them all. They're just so funny. It's a story about a man (Ted) telling his children how he met their mother, so it's like a love story is reverse. Kind of. Anyways, it's really good, and the fact that there wasn't a new one tonight is pretty lame.

I think I'm going to go curl up with my lover and my kitty, mostly so Joe stops rewinding the Simpsons when I'm not completely paying attention. I love the show, but I've seen them all before; why do I need to watch every scene this time?

Oh well; have a great night everyone!

AAAAH! Midterms!!!

Sooo... now that we've had our little break, it's back to realizing that the semester is half over and I definitely have way more work to do now than I have thus far... not to mention all the midterms this week. I think I am about to explode. BUT, I might stop by the lunch thingy tomorrow, if my break from work allows me to. I look forward to meeting you all; judges, and fellow competitors.

Now... just a random thought; I don't believe that the chairs in the lounge area of the library should all be facing one another. I mean, I know they are that way so you can easily work in groups, but today I was meeting a friend there to study, and I had to sit in a chair that faced towards someone who was already sitting down. I swear, I sat there for 15 minutes, and she stared me down so hard that I had to leave before he even showed up. I know not everyone is like that, but she was the friendliest looking of the students working in the area, since most of the others had either their feet or their books on the chair next to them. Jeeze. I can't wait until our student center is bigger. Or until next time, when hopefully, I sit beside someone a little friendlier. Or, you know, having a good day...

Oh well. I found this really amusing, and had to add it... you know, to end this on a friendly note. And not sick, of course, because being sick on your week off blows.

Toronto is pretty cool, I guess. My dad brought my four year old brother & I to Chuck E Cheese today, which was fun since I'm a total kid, and I'd never been there before. Woot to arcade games, and prizes that you could never get enough tickets for.

Tomorrow is the official start of year two and four coned placements. Good luck to everyone else going into the classrooms tomorrow. Personally, I'm in a third grade class, and I'm rather excited, although greatly missing home.

Anyways, I should go see the family, and maybe coax the cat to come see me; she's been hiding since I got here on Friday, and I'm missing my kitty at home. Plus, we totally have chocolate, so I don't even know why I'm still typing...

'Night everyone...

Happy Almost Reading Week!

Heya Folks!!

How's the week before reading week treating everyone, besides being littered with midterms, assignments, and the anticipation of our upcoming break?

I'm busy packing to go to Toronto for reading week.
